A square cardboard box, two foam pool noodle sections, red fabric, black felt, white fluffy fabric, cream paper, red cardstock, two small gold buckles and foam-compatible craft adhesive. You will also need scissors, a ruler, a pencil, clips and a few felt offcuts to shape the boot toes.
How to make it
Remove the box’s upper flaps and cover the outside with cream paper. Cut red cardstock into rectangles and glue them in staggered rows, leaving cream gaps between them to resemble mortar.
Position the two foam cylinders against opposite inner walls near the back corners. Leave approximately 15 centimeters of each cylinder inside the box and angle the exposed sections slightly apart. Apply foam-compatible adhesive along each contact area, press the cylinders directly against the cardboard and hold them with clips until fully set.
Wrap the exposed foam in red fabric, placing the seams at the back. Make two lightweight black felt boots with rounded toes, using a few felt offcuts inside the toes for shape. Fit the boots over the upper ends of the legs, add gold buckles and cover the ankle joins with white fluffy cuffs.
Glue a wide strip of white fluffy fabric around the box’s top rim to create a snowy chimney edge. Let all adhesive dry completely before placing the decoration beside your Christmas tree.
